Welcome to Heather Garth Foundation Stage!

Foundation Stage is made up of our Nursery (FS1) and our Reception class (FS2).  We work together to provide a caring and stimulating learning environment and to meet the needs of each individual child.  We are committed to the highest standards of teaching and learning achieved through a combination of challenge, support, encouragement and praise.

Both FS1 and FS2 have been designed and organised to promote positive engaging environments for children to learn in. We believe in the importance of outdoor learning and use our exciting outdoor areas regularly for our continuous provision and adult led directed activities.

We want our children to enjoy their first experience of school life and give them the secure foundations and enthusiasm to begin their learning journey.

Things you’ll need to know:

PE is on a Wednesday – FS2 do not need a PE Kit.

FS2 have milk in the morning and a healthy snack in the afternoon – they do not need money for the snack.   Milk for the under 5's is free until the beginning of the term in which the child turns 5.  You will be notified by the school office when and how to order your child's milk.  If you are in receipt of benefits which may qualify your child for free school meals, please speak with the school office as milk may be free for your child.

Book packs are changed on a Friday but please send your child’s backpack to school every day as we put letters from school and their pictures inside.

Please fill in the reading record so we know that your child has read at home.

We play outside most weather so please send your child in weather appropriate outside clothing.

Your child will need a change of footwear for indoor use.  Pupils can wear pumps, crocs or slippers for indoor use, but NO big novelty slippers please.
