Arts award

Wow! Well done to all the children who took part in the arts award last academic year through our School Choir. Being part of our school choir offers opportunities to children that are not only valuable but sometimes 'once in a lifetime'! One of these opportunities was to be able to work towards a nationally recognised qualification - the  arts award and another was to be involved in the production of the Rotherham Opera under the guidance of the Royal Opera Company.

Their hard work was worth it - their portfolios have been assessed and moderated and today we handed out the certificates.

This is an award from Trinity College London (a prestigious music college) and is an Entry Level (Entry 3) qualification on the Regulated Qualifications Framework, which sits just below a GCSE! It typically takes 25 guided learning hours plus 10 independent learning hours to complete. The children took part in choir rehearsals, a performance of the opera at Magna, art lessons in school and gave up some of their lunch breaks to complete written assignments. They worked very hard and their success is something to be extremely proud of!!

Our 'thought for the day' this week was: "Do something today that future you will thank you for". So, keep these certificates safe and display them proudly - they may be useful in secondary school and future you will thank you for taking part in this award!!
