The Art of Drawing and Painting – Picasso Art in Year 1
Date: 22nd Feb 2026 @ 9:25pm
In our unit about Pablo Picasso we have learnt about:
Artist style and Influences
We have learnt that cubism is a style of painting when artists use cubes and other 2-D and 3-D shapes to create a whole picture. We know that two of Picasso’s most famous paintings are the Weeping Woman and Guernica. We understand that cubism includes lots of overlapping shapes.
Drawing knowledge
We have learnt that a line is used to create an outline. We know and can recognise different line shapes (open, closed, straight, wavy and zig-zag) and we know that different types of pencils can create lines of different thickness and effect.
Painting knowledge
We have begun to know that the primary colours are: red, yellow and blue and that by adding more water to paint makes a colour less bright and that by adding more paint makes a colour brighter.
