Dance in Year 1

This term or PE focus is dance. In this unit we perform dances using simple movement patterns. We are learning why it is important to count to music and use this in our dances. We have learnt to copy and repeat actions linking them together to create short dance phrases. We have been working individually and with partners to create ideas linked to the themes of Weather and Pirates. We have also been performing our dances to the rest of the class and have the opportunity to providew feedpack and positive commentary using dance terminology. 

We have learnt to use counts of 8 to move in time and make my dance look interesting, explored pathways in dance and created my own dance using actions, pathways and counts. We have also explored speeds and actions in our pirate inspired dance.
